– Q & A CORNER –
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO ORDER?
In short, I appreciate as much advance notice as possible. Because I am a one-woman operation, I can only make a limited number of cakes per week and reserve dates on a first-come, first-served basis. That said, if you need a cake for a last-minute event, contact me and I will let you know if I can accommodate your request.
WHAT ARE YOUR FLAVORS?
See the flavors list here.
HOW MUCH DOES A CAKE COST?
Decorated cakes are generally priced per serving, with the industry standard being 4″ x 2″ x 1″. Because cakes are built to be 4 inches tall, much taller than your “normal” homemade cake, you can cut many servings from each tier!
The question of how much a cake costs boils down to ingredients and time. In general, a buttercream cake costs less than a fondant cake. A multi-tiered cake costs more than one that doesn’t need extra supports. 3D cakes require a lot of planning and skill and are priced accordingly.
As a point of reference, a vanilla or chocolate celebration cake with a buttercream filling and simple decorations starts at $4.25 a serving for a one tier cake. A fondant covered cake with simple decorations is at least $5.00 a serving. Multi-tiered wedding cakes generally start at $4.60 a serving and go up from there, but there are many factors to consider.
Once I learn about your event and the type of cake you are dreaming about, I provide a customized quote.
IS THERE A MINIMUM ORDER?
Yes, there is a $100 minimum.
DO YOU OFFER CUPCAKES?
I will provide them in bulk (at least 8 dozen minis or 3 dozen normal sized cupcakes) or as part of a cake order, with the $100 minimum for the order still applying. For weddings, some couples prefer to provide a smaller cutting cake and cupcakes rather than one big cake. Inquire about pricing.
DO YOU HAVE STAND RENTALS?
I have several sturdy stands for rent for smaller cakes up to heavier wedding cakes; please inquire. I also have an adjustable multi-tiered white stand that can hold over 300 mini cupcakes and a cake up to 10″ wide on top. See the wedding portfolio for photos of this cupcake stand.
WHAT ABOUT FOOD ALLERGENS?
While a cake may not contain nuts, there are nuts in my kitchen and I can not guarantee a nut-free product. In a similar vein, I can make cakes with gluten-free flours, but since I use all-purpose and cake flours in my kitchen I can not guarantee that there won’t be flour dust in the batter. I mention this because people have various tolerances to gluten. If you are very sensitive to gluten, I can not safely accommodate your needs. However, if you have cut gluten out of your diet and are looking for a cake option that is not full of all-purpose flour, let’s talk.
I can make vegan cakes. Please inquire about other food restrictions (low sugar, low fat, etc.).

First, contact me through my contact form (preferred), email fancypantscakesVT@gmail.com, or leave a message at (802) 379-8459. Feel free to separately email pictures of other cakes that have piqued your interest. I will get back to you within 48 hours.
For celebration cakes: We discuss your design of choice through email or phone. Once a design is chosen, you sign the online contract. Celebration cakes are usually paid 100% up front, but if it’s a more expensive cake you may pay 30% retainer and the remaining 3 weeks prior to the event.
For wedding cakes: If possible, we schedule a consultation in Bennington or at your venue where we discuss your wedding and I provide cake samples for a small fee. Once we settle on a design, you sign an online contract and pay a 30% retainer. The remainder is due 3 weeks prior to the wedding.
Payment is accepted through personal check, cash, money order, or credit card.
DO YOU DELIVER?
Yes. There is a delivery fee which takes into account time, fuel costs, and any set-up. I generally deliver within 1 1/2 hours of Bennington, though I can go further if necessary.

CAN YOU MAKE A CHARACTER CAKE?
I am sorry, but it is illegal to reproduce and sell any copyrighted logo, character, etc. without permission of the owner. Some owners are happy to give their permission, but others (Disney, for example) are more protective of their characters. Without permission, I can not reproduce that character or logo on the cake.
However, there are ways that we can work with the theme of the party and still obey the law. You are welcome to use your own topper (e.g., a plastic figurine) and the cake can be a scene for the character. Another alternative is to create a cake based around the theme of the party; for example, a multi-tiered cake that matches the colors and dress styles of the Disney Princesses for a princess party. Let’s be creative and think outside the box!
